Post-Conference: Unmasking & Preparing for the Federal Grant Process
A step-by- step walk-through the path to successful federal grant development
Friday, August 28, 2009 8 am – 3 pm
Plan to join this information-packed day-long workshop facilitated by Illinois ResourceNet! Experienced facilitators led by Extension Specialist Al Zwilling will guide organizations interested in seeking federal grants in a detailed explanation of the steps leading to the drafting and submission of competitive federal grants. The workshop will provide insight to the following questions:
- What are the federal grant opportunities (stimulus funding included!) available and how can nonprofits successfully navigate these through tools like grants.gov?
- What capacities are necessary for a nonprofit to succeed with a federal grant?
- What pre-grant writing preparation is necessary?
- How can nonprofits assess readiness for submitting a completed grant proposal?
- What is Illinois ResourceNet and how can its resources to support nonprofit federal grant writing?
Participants will also have an opportunity to choose afternoon learning sessions around collaboration, transparency and accountability, and how to secure funding by working collaboratively with local governments. Specific answers on being successful in the federal grants process will be addressed on a one-on-one basis with experienced Technical Assistants.
